This series of ‘Crowns’ has been Jacqui’s initial inspiration to break from the flat wood-based surfaces, creating pieces in three dimensions. Inspired by the celebration headwear used by the Yoruba tribe from Nigeria. This series holds all of the artist’s usual patterns from placing animals and wildlife figures as winking clues, as well as adding faces and regal headgear to the mosaic, honouring the origins, which sparked her deep fascination and inspiration.

The ‘Crowns’, were Jacqui’s first exercises in building experience creating cemented hand-shaped wire structures. After the ‘Crowns’, adding elements of wire structures, has been a major influence on how Jacqui has been able to mould and introduce surprising shapes into her latest creations, like the 'Shaped Panels'.
