Shaped Panels

Jacqui’s foray into hand-formed panels can be traced back to the beginning of her triathlon training journey in 2015. It was a movement away from using flat wood as a base – the cemented wire shapes for these mosaics are made from scratch and molded into a form that will fit as a basis for her intended creation.

Some panels tell a story of the leadup to her World Championship triathlon races, which at the same time reflect her experience as an athlete and as well as an artist. Looking at a panel in detail, you will immediately pick up the serpentine of individual colourful mini-worlds that ultimately make up the fable that Jacqui spreads out in front of you.

Jacqui: “Some days I would push the medium to its limit, even when it wasn’t going right or I didn’t like it, I still continued. I didn’t give up. I just changed what I could before the cement set too hard. Sometimes, I would have no idea how I wanted it to look in the end, as long as it meant something to me, that’s all that mattered".
